Match panel wattage to station capacity. A 288Wh station with a 40W panel recharges in several hours of good sun. A 1000Wh station with two 100W panels recharges in about the same time. Larger 3840Wh stations need more panel wattage or accept grid charging as a backup.
Some larger LiFePO4 units list expandable capacity, one sample up to 53.76kWh. That means you add battery modules rather than buying a whole new station. Check the expansion port and compatible module before you buy. Smaller lithium-ion units generally do not expand.
A 300W station runs lights, a laptop, a phone charger, and a small fan. It will not run a fridge or a space heater. The 600W surge rating on some units handles brief startup spikes from small motors. For anything with a compressor, step up to a 1000W or larger station.
LiFePO4 lasts more charge cycles and tolerates daily solar cycling better. Lithium-ion packs are lighter and cheaper for the same capacity. For a station that stays in one place and cycles every day, LiFePO4 is the more durable choice. For a portable unit used occasionally, lithium-ion works fine.
Off-grid power stations need to run for long stretches without a wall outlet. The samples show capacities from 288Wh up to 3840Wh, with outputs from 300W to 4200W. Solar input matters more here than in other uses. A 40W panel paired with a 288Wh station will recharge slowly, while a 1000W station with two 100W panels cuts that time. Pure sine wave AC output is common across the samples, which keeps motors and sensitive electronics running cleanly.
Battery chemistry splits into two groups. Lithium-ion packs appear in the smaller units, while LiFePO4 shows up in the larger ones. LiFePO4 handles more charge cycles and holds up better to daily solar cycling. Expandability is another off-grid factor. One sample lists expansion up to 53.76kWh, which means you can add battery modules later instead of replacing the whole station.
The samples fall into three rough bands: compact units around 288Wh to 300Wh with 300W to 350W output, mid-size units near 1000Wh with 1000W output, and large units at 2400W to 4200W with 2400Wh to 3840Wh capacity. The compact ones pair with 40W to 100W folding solar panels and suit a single device or a few small loads. The mid-size units run laptops, lights, and small appliances through a night. The large units handle home circuits, well pumps, or a cabin fridge.
Ports vary by size. Smaller stations carry two 110V AC outlets, USB-A, and DC ports. Larger stations add 120/240V split-phase output and 100W USB-C. Weight climbs with capacity, so a 3840Wh unit is not something you carry far. It sits in one spot and gets wired in.
